Agricultural Campus
On Day 2 (Wednesday July 8th) we are offering an optional trip to the Agricultural Campus 60–90 minutes outside of Halifax (in Bible Hill/Truro) for biosecurity-focused talks and related tours on our research farm. The conference dinner will also be hosted here (see Program for more details). We are providing shuttle buses to and from the Truro campus that will depart from the Marion McCain Arts & Social Sciences Building in Halifax.

Getting to Halifax from the Airport
Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) is located in Enfield, approximately 35 km north of downtown Halifax. Several options are available to get from the airport to Dalhousie University.

Halifax Transit 320 Airport Shuttle — A direct shuttle service operates between YHZ and downtown Halifax (Scotia Square - walkable to any peninsula hotels). At the airport, $4.75 tickets can be purchased at the Ground Transportation Booth in Arrivals (or via the HFXGO app or exact change on board). The journey takes approximately 45–60 minutes depending on stops. See schedule for details.

Taxi — Taxis are available outside the arrivals terminal. The fare to the Dalhousie campus is typically $70 and the journey takes around 35–45 minutes.

Rideshare (Uber) — Uber operates in Halifax. Pick-up is available from the designated rideshare zone at the airport (near the Halifax Transit bus stop). Fares are comparable to taxi rates although vary with surgecharging.
Getting Around Halifax

Walking — Downtown Halifax is safe, compact, and walkable area.

Buses — Halifax Transit operates bus routes across the city. Several routes serve the Dalhousie campus from the downtown area and beyond. The Halifax Transit website has full schedules and a trip planner.

Rideshare (Uber) — As mentioned above Uber operates in Halifax.

Parking — For those bringing their own vehicles parking information is available from Dalhousie University and from the Municipality of Halifax.

The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites — 1515 South Park Street — The closest full-service hotel to campus, approximately a 5–10 minute walk. Located directly across from the Halifax Public Gardens.

Atlantica Hotel Halifax — 1980 Robie St — Next closest standard hotel to campus, approximately 15–20 minute walk. Located by Quinpool Road.

Four Points by Sheraton — 1496 Hollis Street — Approximately a 20–25 minute walk but with a small uphill. Located by the Halifax Waterfront next to other Marriott offerings.

Short-term rental options (e.g., Airbnb) in Halifax’s South End and downtown neighbourhoods are also abundant and often offer convenient proximity to campus.
